| ...Just when I thought the Cowboy Bebop news was bad. "...Kodansha licensed the live-action film adaptation rights for Akira and Ghost in the Shell last year to Leonardo DiCaprio's team at Warner Brothers/Appian Way and Steven Spielberg's team at DreamWorks, respectively. Both titles are well-known outside manga-reading circles through their animated film adaptations." Please, please... No.. >< Source: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-05-05/amazon-lists-akira-ghost-in-the-shell-from-kodansha | | |
| Swine flu, swine flu, swine flu. You swines. Jerusalem now refuses to call it this, and instead will use the name "Mexican flu". People in Mexico are getting away with crimes by blending in with everyone else wearing blue surgical masks. And now, a little closer to home. There's been a possible outbreak in Richardson; there's been a possible sign of symptoms in a Plano school; PISD and CCCCD have announced that they will close school for two weeks Monday if it turns out people have it. The reality? Guess what -- it will take four to six months to get a vaccine. Oh yeah, CSI Vegas (I think that's right) has an episode tonight about some sort of Pandemic breaking out. Let's open the betting booths on weather or not it's going to be cancelled tonight! (No, I don't personally watch this show.) Hypothosis and TV reference? Think back to the episode of House where he and Cuddy were on an Airplane for a majority of the time. Give everyone a Placibo and see who gets better. No, not everyone would apply. But still, it makes you wonder how much of this isn't just a psychological thing... | | |
| Our call time tonight was for 7 PM. Strangely enough... The chorus director was nowhere to be found at this time. Eventually, he wandered in a few minutes late saying innocently "We don't need you until 7:30." He then went on about how he thought there was little we needed to go over, so he thought we'd just focus on a few points during those last few minutes before the concert. Sure enough, he found that there wasn't enough time to go over everything he wanted to. We also found out that they hadn't really arranged any seating for us beforehand, and were putting chairs for us on stage just before we went down there. They had no clue as to how many people they needed to seat and were still getting numbers a few minutes before we were supposed to go out on stage. For that matter, they were still trying to "arrange" our sections before letting us out there. Most of it was fairly straight-forward, but it still looked like a bit of a hoj-poj process. From there... Well, nothing but the usual rants about singing with the symphony. On the upside though, the Tennor section wasn't screwed for a major enterance this time. \o/ That, and the orchestra did a wonderful job. We've just got one more show before the end of the semester. I look forward to the days leading up to this that don't involve being active for fourteen hours at a time. | | |
| Yes, it's choir hell week here. And I must say... Our expirences with Allen Symphony are living up to their reputation. This has got to be the worst-organized event we've done with them. There are *three* scores floating around. One for the Orchestra, and two for the choir. Of course, both of those scores are numbered COMPLETELY different. I think there were five or six other edits we didn't know on top of that. And to make matters worse, the slow bits are abour 2/3 as fast as what we've practiced all semester long. No one from our college can get the beat right because of the obscurity. I could go on and on about this, but I don't have quite that much time. -.-' I've also started my condensed History II course... Today I have to go straight to bowling after that, then straight to Allen High from there. We are NOT amused. -.-' | | |
| As some of you know, I got a shiny new phone in December. I love it to bits -- especially after the trouble with my last phone. However, it's had a weird issue with Picture Mail. I've had them reset the service a few times, only to have it stop working after a week or so. Anyway... I got on the phone with Sprint support again and went through the standard first-level procedures. *yawn* Oh, hey! I stumped yet another CSR with my issue! \o/ Well, I got transfered to the next level of support. The person I got had me put an application on my phone that would allow them to view and control it remotely (quite awesome, I must say). After more scratching of heads, a few phone restarts and a loss of internet service for no good reason, they came to the step of doing a hard reset on my phone. For those who don't know, this resets the device to factory defaults. Well... Since I don't have Microsoft Outlook, I wasn't able to sync up my contacts. Instead, I sent them to my PC through a bluetooth connection... But of course, "...best laid plans of mice..." Something didn't register right on the connection, and I ended up pulling all the contact files out of a temp folder on my PC. After resetting and finishing the call, I sent them back over to my phone. Low and behold, all of the contact files were corrupted. Most of them didn't have any contact info in them, and showed up as <Unnamed>. Well... Then I remembered a little box I had ticked on Windows Live where it would sync up *all* of my contacts with their server. So with much hope in my mind, I booted up Live Messenger on my phone. After clicking through a few pages... "We've found 110 contact files for your account. Would you like to synchronize them with your device?" Thanks to that, I now have them all back. Now I just have to re-customize my phone right down to the registry... >.>" | | |
